A picture is worth a thousand words . . .

This past week, Will turned five. I could describe in detail the events of the day, but I thought instead that I would just post a few pictures that capture the main events. Unfortunately, most of our family had the flu, so opening presents was pretty much the day's only celebratory event. We made up for it though by getting Dad and Will tickets for the Monster Truck show. (If you had told me ten years ago that one day I would buy tickets for a monster truck show, I would have laughed out loud and mocked you the rest of the day. Oh well, I guess it's true--we never know where our future will lead.)

"Why is my mom always giving me lame books for gifts?"

"I love Thomas the Train, but a Thomas game that helps me learn?"

"Just what I wanted! An 'all-by-itself' Percy train!"

As you can see, Will was at least excited about one gift. (However, by the end of the day he had decided that Joseph Had a Little Overcoat was a pretty good book and that the Thomas ABC game was fun.) My favorite part of the day was watching Will and Josie run from one toy to the next, playing together all day long. It made the miserable night before, of wrapping presents with feverish chills, headache and overall weakness, worth it.
